Well, it's been a whirlwind adventure on European shores, but the time has come for me to come home and get back into the swing of things. There are a bunch of gigs coming up for me in September, beginning with an as yet unconfirmed appearance at Comfy Man. I will not be going to the big party in the desert this year as I am completely exhausted, but much love to all of the brave souls going to Black Rock City. My heart goes with you!!!

Lots of changes around here. I've completely redesigned the site from the ground up. There will be a new logo and header coming in from my graphic designer soon and I've rewritten and streamlined the code for the entire website. Quite a task, but defintiely worth it. If you find anything broken let me know.
This Friday, July 25th I will be playing a special 3 hour set from 10pm until 1am at the Fusion Lounge. People are coming from all over the Western US and this one is going to blow up in a massive way. We had a lot of fun last time and this is you last chance to see me before I depart to Europe for a while. So, come wish me bons voyages, have a drink, boogie and put in a request for a ceramic Portuguese rooster.
The Fusion Lounge is located at 110 Pearl Alley in downtown Santa Cruz.

So, I'll be playing at the Burner Happy Hour tonight Wednesday, July 2nd. at the Seabright Bar and Lounge with Wona and Sparkinzi. Festivities will start at 5:30 or 6:00 or so and we gonna bring the freshness. Come on around if you can make it. The Seabright Bar and Lounge is located 529 Seabright in Santa Cruz.
Also, this Friday, once the festivities have died down in town, there will be a full-on renegade freakout up the coast. Confirmed for the DJ roster is Big Mike, Kurian, Beetjunkey, Arwin, and myself. Stay tuned for details, I'll be sending directions out to my mailing list on Friday - this one's going to be off the charts.

OK, A quick message before I go cool out on a mountaintop. First of all, I will be djing at both Soulstance and the Raindance Campout. My set at Soulstance is on Sunday at 5am and goes for two hours. I will be djng the most lovely sunrise set I can conjure. Then, later that same day I will be kicking off the pool party at the Raindance Campout at noon with a fatty dub set to get things rolling. Hope to see you all at one of these things!
Also, many of you don't know that in addition to my life as a DJ I also play soft, folksy stuff on the quitar. I have put up some mp3s of an acoustic music concert that I played in Sonoma County in May. You can stream them by clicking here. This is a "warts-and-all" recording with no edits or nothing and if you don't like sad, soft acoustic music you probably won't dig it. If, however you dig it enough to want a copy, just drop me a line and I'll send you a CD.

Extra! Extra! Meow all about it!
Cool Hand Luke is making a special appearance this Friday! I will be djing at the Fusion Lounge Project with Paisley. We are stepping outside the usual house format and I will be taking you deep into the realm of the abstract and groovy. Prepare to be surprised. This will be going down in Santa Cruz at 110 Pearl Alley starting around 10ish until 1ish. There is no cover and it is 21+ w/ID. Let me know if you want to be on the guest list.

Meow,
Beltane is going to be off the richter. I will be djing a special epic three and a half hour sunset set on Saturday from 5pm until 8:30pm.
They have been preparing the land in Bonny Doon for days now, and the word is that the place looks fantastic.
If you need help finding it, drop me a line. Hope to see you all there!

Meow,
There will be a Fool Moon saturday, not the one that I had written of earlier but a different one that will be all Dubstep -
seeing as I do not like Dubstep for more than an hour or so, I will
probably only be there for an hour or so. Information will not be posted here, so keep your ear to the underground for more details.
In other news, the Beltaine party will be happening on the weekend of May 2nd and 3rd. I will be djing (set times as of yet un-announced)
and it's going to be off the hook, with weekend-long camping on private property surrounded by hundreds of acres of redwoods
and that new Turbo sound system that the Nexonians have acquired.
If you have never been, you need to go...I don't say this about many parties, but this one will blow your mind.
To my out-of-town friends - I would even make the recommendation that you come to town just for this party. Really, it's that plump.

Fellow Travellers,
I have been quite busy for the last several weeks and had not gotten around to updating the site for a minute.
First of all, thanks to everybody who showed up at last night's shindig at the ole' Veterinarian's Memorial Hall.
The first week of the new weekly party Sugar went off in fine style.
I was quite impressed with how well they were able to transform the ambience of the space. The main hall has always had all of
the warmth of a blimp hangar, but last night it was almost cozy.
Coming up, we have a few things going on in April - including a fool moon renegade stylee and a 4:20 party
in the park with the all new Turbo soundsystem that was at the Boing! party. More info to come...
or you could sign up for my mailing list and get the info sent to you. Hmmmm.....sounds good doesn't it? Go ahead, then - do it. Do it.

Selectah's log: Star Date 61606.4
Well, first of all, I'd like to thank any and all who came to our first beach party of the year. It was a total blast and a good time was had by all. We are planning another one coming up, so keep your ears to the underground.
Tomorrow, Star Date 61610 we have the Five Branches Chinese New Years Party for the Five Branches Chinese Medical School.
This is one of my favorite parties in Santa Cruz, a really different vibe. There will be an upstairs Chinese Artisan teas room, complete with Gung Fu pots. A Samba band, three DJS, a full buffet of dank food, and a couple of drinks all for the ticket price.
Because I'm lazy, I'll copy and paste their announcement and edit a little.
<quote>
Please come down to our school's Chinese New Year party this coming Friday, February 22nd.

The Samba drummers will be there and our local community of fire dancers.

People of planet earth. Let it be known that this Friday the 25th, the Natural Born Chillers - a fine discjockeying collective of which I am a part - will be playing at the new Pearl Alley Bistro. This is the first installment of a new ongoing thing called the Fusion Lounge Project featuring the finest in Downtempo and Deep House. Music will be provided by the superbly talented and tasteful Paisley and Sparkinzi plus a special guest TBA. I don't think I will be playing records this week, just hanging out, so this is an excellent chance to buy me a drink or three and get up close and personal with one of the greatest minds in dance music. The Pearl Alley Bistro is located at 110 Pearl Alley in between Lincoln and Walnut in downtown Santa Cruz and the event starts at 7pm or so. Mebbe we'll see you there...

December 31st, 2007
Well, 2007 was definitely a rough ride. Here's to the last of it...I hope.
I've decided not to head to the city to be crammed in like sardines
to hear half-hour sets from the flavor of the week djs playing distorted
hip-hop samples over glitchy beats and patting themselves on the back over creating the next big thing.
Also, if hear any more dubstep-by-numbers with the same monotonous bassline, I might just have to
"spill" a gin and tonic on some motherfucker's laptop. OK, end rant. I am however
going to an awesome house party in the hills with some dear friends. Should be a lot of fun.
Also, on January 2nd, I will be playing with Paisley at the After-After Party at Fabric at the Seabright Bar & Lounge.
It will be going from 10pm until 2am with the monthly Burner's happy hour immediately preceding it.
Happy New Years!

This weekend is shaping up to be quite a busy one. First I'll be playing at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History's Burning Man Art Exhibit Member's Reception from 6-8 on Friday the 14th with Sparkinzi. I really have no idea what to play, but I guarantee there will be some Laurie Anderson involved. Later the same night I'll be djing at 1015 Folsom. The event is called "Get Down, Give Back" and is a benefit for the Future Leaders Institute, Friends of the OSA, & the Sangkheum Center for Children. Music will be provided by LOCZI, Vau de Vire Society, Melyss, James Christopher, Majitope, Bender, Duserock, and myself. Entry is $10-$20 donation and I'll be playing at 3am in the main room. See you there!

November 5th, 2007
Well, well, well. As if the last few weeks haven't been wild enough,
this Saturday, November 10th, we have the Nexus Maze party and the UnScruz Decomprehension party on the same weekend.
I will be playing at both of them so here are the details.
UnScruz Decomprehension will be at a location to be disclosed on Friday and will
be going from 2:00pm until next morning. I will be djing at 8pm.
If you'd like to attend, go ahead and sign up for my mailing list - I will send out directions Friday night.
From there, my entourage and I will be going to the Arata Hay Bale Maze located in Half Moon Bay, CA at
185 Verde Rd.
I will be playing at 1:30 am after the Gomorrans Social Aid and Pleasure Club.
This is one of my favorite parties of the year, not to be missed.
Tickets are $30 at the door and $25 in advance and are well worth it. They can be purchased at
brownpapertickets.com.
If you need more info about either of these events, drop me a line using my contact page.

FORGET DOWNTOWN SANTA CRUZ AGAIN THIS YEAR!
Come join us for the 2nd Annual Seabright Halloween Parade and Freak Fest!
This year we're kicking it off with the last boat party of the season. DJs will include Sparkinzi, myself and some surprise guests.
We have no idea how many people we can rally so, that means we need YOU to help us!
All you need to do is show up in your freakiest and most fun Halloween wear (layers are good for warmth), put on some blinky lights and stuff, bring some things to give away (candy, blinkies, fuzzy hats, treats of any kind, the choice is yours!) and drinks (and cups to conceal them in!) and prepare to march a few blocks. Come on, you can do it!
At around 5:00, we will meet on East Cliff between Seabright and 1st Ave. above Seabright beach for the LAST BOATS AND BEATS PARTY of the season! DJs will entertain us and please bring drinks to share (and a cup to put them in!) From there, probably around 6:30 or 7:00, we'll start the parade up 3rd Ave.
Then, and here's the kicker, we'll GIFT people things (again, candy or whatever) along the way! Trick or treaters, people answering their doors, people checking us out, you get the idea!
We want to see how many people we can get to do a renegae parade! And the fun part will be tripping people out when we try to give them something (rather than the other way around). Fuckin'YAY!
Join us, fellow Freaks (that means your kids, too), won't you? Let's fly our freak flags high and make this a freaktastic night!

Well, I had quite the birthday. Thanks to all who helped me celebrate... Posting a breaks mix of the Isle of Acid song. It's called the "More Cowbell" mix and can be listened to here or on my songs page. It's rather similar to the main mix with a really pretty, shimmery breakdown in the middle and then goes completely nuts.

Well, I've decided not to play this weekend at Lupin Lodge but it should be fun so if you are inclined to go it should be a great pre-compression party. I will be going to Burning Man after all, so if you know of any sound systems where I should definitely play, let me know through the contact page. More info on where and when I'll be playing coming soon. I'm posting a new track today, too - it's called Isle of Acid and it can be listened to here. It's some pretty hard acid techno so if you don't like the hard stuff you probably won't dig it.

Happy Friday the 13th, y'all. Posting a new song today. This one is called Sashimi Peachfish and you can stream it here. I'm also working on a gallery page that will include party photos and a flyer gallery going back to the early days of the Santa Cruz scene when me and Brother were just pups. Coming soon!

Well, the 3rd annual Raindance campout is almost upon us. My set time has been confirmed for 9:45 am on Saturday. If you happen to know a certified lifeguard please get in touch with me or the Raindance organizers. We need a certified lifeguard in order for the pool party to happen and can offer $20/hr. plus free entry to the campout.
For everybody else, if you need a ticket, there are a limited number still available. Either contact me or get in touch with Metamusic in downtown Santa Cruz. I think their phone number is 831 466-9027. Hope to see all you lovely freaks there! Also, special thanks to a Lil Faerie for sending me the picture of the kitty on the left. I am unreasonably amused by anthropomorphised cats.

I posted a new song! It's called Delicious Bass and you can listen to it on my song page. Check it and let me know what you think. I'm probably going to be out of commision for the next several weeks. I have a cracked rib and the doctor's orders were for me to take it easy and not lift anything. Not that I really want to because even just taking a deep breath sends sharp shooting pains radiating from my chest. Ouch!
